Spartan Select, the Official Hometown Beer of Michigan State Athletics, officially launches Friday, September 4, with its debut at Spartan Stadium and Harper's Restaurant & Brewpub in downtown East Lansing.

Developed in the brewery at Harper's Restaurant & Brewpub, the proprietary Spartan Select recipe was created with today's beer drinker in mind — a clean, crisp and refreshing alternative for those looking to "Select a Better Choice." Made with select organic ingredients and no added sugar or corn syrup, Spartan Select delivers an easy-drinking profile while staying true to its East Lansing roots.

For Harper's owners Trish and Pat Riley, bringing a beer first developed in their East Lansing brewery beyond the walls of Harper's has been years in the making. Harper's has been part of the East Lansing community since 1997, serving generations of students, alumni, fans and local residents just steps from campus.

East Lansing has been home to Harper's for nearly 30 years, so seeing Spartan Select launch here — and seeing it available inside Spartan Stadium — is an incredibly special moment for us. We wanted to create a beer people genuinely want to drink: something crisp, refreshing and easy to enjoy. To have it make its debut right here at home is something we're incredibly proud of.

The September 4 launch marks the first opportunity for fans to purchase Spartan Select at Spartan Stadium. The beer will remain available throughout the football season and will also be offered at additional Michigan State Athletics venues throughout the year. Just steps from campus, Harper's will simultaneously celebrate the official launch at its downtown East Lansing location.

What began as an idea inside the brewery at Harper's has now grown into Spartan Select becoming the Official Hometown Beer of Michigan State Athletics.

We set out to create a beer that felt authentic to East Lansing and could grow far beyond it. This is really just the beginning for Spartan Select, and we couldn't imagine a better place to start.

Following its East Lansing debut, Spartan Select will continue to expand its availability, with retail distribution planned in the coming weeks. Additional locations will be announced as the beer rolls out across Michigan.
